NUMSA Brings Healthcare to Kuchinguro Community

On April 5th, 2025, the Nile University Medical Students’ Association (NUMSA) conducted a comprehensive health outreach program in Kuchinguro Community, focusing on diabetes and hypertension screening and education. This initiative, organized under the Office of the Vice President (External Affairs), brought essential healthcare services directly to community members, demonstrating NUMSA’s commitment to community-centered health interventions.

Planning Phase

The committee meticulously planned the outreach, setting the date and coordinating all necessary preparations. Flyers were designed and circulated to raise awareness within the community. Donation requests were sent out, and generous contributions were received to support the initiative.

Preparation & Setup

Comprehensive preparations ensured the success of the outreach:

Materials & Equipment

  • Medical equipment (stethoscopes and sphygmomanometers) collected from Human Physiology Laboratory
  • Additional materials purchased: Medical gloves, Glucose test strips, Refreshments
  • Event banner produced for visibility and branding
  • Transportation arranged for volunteers and materials

Following the screening activities, equipment was properly returned, and the team held a debrief session to summarize outcomes and identify areas for improvement. This reflective practice ensures continuous improvement for future outreaches.
